HoneyBeacon™
ROOM BLOCKING
Blocking that starts when you arrive and ends when you leave.
With a paired HoneyBeacon, a nearby session starts when your iPhone is in the zone and ends when you leave it. A HoneyTag is a scan, not a zone. An app-only timer, and a Bee Together session set for the full timer, keep blocking until that timer ends.
Lockdown and Flight follow the rules of the session you chose. Walking away does not end every kind of session.
How other products describe themselves
These are the words each product uses for how blocking starts and ends. They are not a test of reliability, and prices are not listed here.
| Product | How they say blocking starts | How they say it ends | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| HoneyBeacon | A nearby session starts when your iPhone is in the paired zone. | Leaving that zone ends the nearby session. A HoneyTag scan, an app-only timer, and a full-timer Bee Together session end on their own rules. | HoneyBeacon guide |
| Brick Night | Brick says Bluetooth blocks the apps you choose when your phone enters the space during the hours you set. | Brick says leaving the space, or reaching the end of the window, unbricks the phone. | Brick Night |
| Brick | Brick says you tap your phone against the device, or use a schedule. | Brick describes another tap or the schedule. It does not describe leaving a room. | Brick |
| ScreenZen Halo | ScreenZen says walking into the boundary blocks the apps you chose. | ScreenZen says those apps stay blocked until you leave. | Halo |
| Unpluq | Unpluq says a schedule blocks the apps you chose. The NFC tag is a key you tap when you want to open them. | Unpluq does not describe a Bluetooth zone that ends when you leave the room. | Unpluq |
| Foqos | Foqos says a session starts in the app, with an NFC tag, with a QR code, or with a timer. | Foqos says the same tag, code, or timer stops it. There is no bedside Bluetooth zone. | Foqos |
| Opal | Opal describes itself as a screen-time app that protects focus. | Opal’s site does not describe a room sensor. | Opal |
| Apple Screen Time | Apple’s Downtime and App Limits follow times you set on the iPhone. | The schedule ends them, or you use the Screen Time passcode. There is no Bluetooth room sensor. | Apple Screen Time |
HoneyBeacon is for iPhone, uses Apple Screen Time, and needs a paired HoneyBeacon for a nearby zone. Bluetooth proximity is approximate. Test arriving and leaving in the room where you will use it.
