HoneyBeacon Terms of Use
Version 1.5 · 8 September 2026
Who provides HoneyBeacon
The app and associated services are provided by HONEYBEACON LIMITED, company number 17440812. Our registered office is 5 Semaphore Road, Guildford, GU1 3PS, United Kingdom. Contact hello@honeybeacon.app.
These Terms cover the app, optional cloud accounts, Family Hive, Bee Together and app membership. The Apple Standard End User Licence Agreement applies to the app licence: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/. These Terms add HoneyBeacon-specific service terms and do not remove protections under that licence or mandatory law. Our Privacy Policy explains processing of personal information and does not waive privacy rights.
Please read these Terms before creating an account or confirming a purchase. The adult who creates or arranges an account or buys a membership agrees to the relevant service terms. A parent or guardian arranging a child’s use must have appropriate authority. Local focus tools have no separate minimum age, subject to Apple requirements. These Terms do not treat every child as having adult contractual capacity.
What the app does
HoneyBeacon helps reduce distractions using Apple’s Screen Time frameworks, schedules, focus sessions, optional Bluetooth beacons, Wake alarms, progress and household features. Core functions work on the device. Some features require compatible hardware, permissions, another participant or membership. Wake requires a supported version of iOS and alarm permission. Compatibility and feature information shown before purchase forms part of the information on which you can rely.
HoneyBeacon is not medical treatment, a safety or emergency system, or a substitute for parental supervision. It cannot guarantee perfect blocking, uninterrupted alarms, detection or a particular wellbeing result. Permissions, device state, battery, iOS behaviour, conflicting controls and radio conditions can affect operation. Available Flight and session-ending paths may temporarily release blocking. These practical limitations do not exclude our responsibility to provide the service with reasonable care and skill or your statutory rights.
Accounts, family use and permitted conduct
Optional cloud features use Sign in with Apple. Keep your Apple Account secure and do not share invitation codes publicly. You are responsible for your own misuse, but not for losses caused by our breach or matters outside your reasonable control.
Family Hive supports up to six active members including the Beekeeper. The Beekeeper can invite members and use the supervision and session-request tools available in the app. Supervision settings and requests apply through the member device and its permissions. The Beekeeper role is not verification of age, parental responsibility or entitlement to control another adult. A parent or legal guardian must arrange a child’s participation where required and use the controls in the child’s interests.
Bee Together coordinates sessions with invited participants. Participants should understand the shared session rules and what others can see before accepting. Bluetooth proximity is affected by surroundings and device behaviour.
Do not stalk, coerce, harass or secretly monitor anyone, impersonate another person, send abusive invitations, interfere with accounts, scrape personal information, upload unlawful material or bypass Apple protections for unlawful purposes. Reverse engineering is restricted except where the law gives you a right that cannot be excluded. We may act on abuse reports and suspend access where reasonably necessary to protect users or address a material breach.
Memberships and Apple billing
The Hive is available monthly or annually. The Hive Family is available monthly or annually and adds household features. The intended UK reference prices are £2.99 per month or £29 per year for The Hive, and £4.99 per month or £49 per year for The Hive Family. The actual selected price, currency, billing period and applicable offer are shown by the App Store before confirmation. Nothing here removes rights arising from price or feature information we provide.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm purchase. Apple subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. You can restore an eligible purchase using Restore purchases in the app.
A free trial is available only when the App Store confirms an applicable offer and your eligibility. Its actual duration, subsequent charge and renewal period are shown before purchase. Do not assume a trial applies because you previously saw one advertised. A campaign membership period is a separate offer, as described below.
Apple Family Sharing is intended to be enabled for eligible membership products. Actual sharing depends on the product’s App Store configuration and Apple’s family rules. Apple Family Sharing shares an eligible entitlement; it does not automatically create or join an in-app Family Hive or increase its six-member limit.
When membership ends, paid features stop being available; the free functions remain available as described in the app. We do not sell Honey as money or promise cash for it.
Kickstarter bundles and hardware
Hardware crowdfunding and rewards are administered through Kickstarter and the relevant campaign terms, which must state the selected reward, shipping charges, destinations and estimated delivery. The planned campaign is in late September 2026, with estimated shipments in January 2027. These are current targets, not a promise that every reward will arrive on a particular date. Launch fulfilment is UK-first; international campaign viewers are not worldwide shipping readiness. Shipping costs for UK addresses are expected to be confirmed through Kickstarter’s Pledge Manager once an address is captured. Additional countries will only be offered after separate product, tax and returns assessment.
The planned bundles include 12 months of membership: one or two devices with The Hive, or three devices with The Hive Family. That period begins when the membership code is redeemed in the signed-in app. A bundle does not authorise a separate recurring Apple charge merely because its included period ends. Any later paid Apple subscription requires the relevant purchase confirmation. We do not promise that a campaign code will stack with an existing Apple subscription or reimburse overlapping periods unless the offer expressly says so. Any redemption deadline will be stated before backing.
Kickstarter’s platform terms also apply to use of its platform. They do not remove any mandatory rights you have against HONEYBEACON LIMITED. These app Terms are not a substitute for the campaign’s reward, delivery and cancellation information. Before the campaign opens, the campaign page must state how shipping is charged, which destinations are offered, and how to obtain cancellation or returns information. A returns / fulfilment address has not yet been selected; the registered office is not automatically an authorised parcel-return destination. We remain responsible for faulty goods as required by law and will not use campaign wording to shift those mandatory costs onto customers improperly. Contact hello@honeybeacon.app about reward or hardware problems.
Cancellation, refunds and statutory rights
You can request an IAP refund through Apple. This does not limit any rights or remedies you have against us. Where the law permits a digital-content cancellation right to end when supply begins, this requires your express consent to immediate supply and acknowledgement that the right will be lost. Other applicable cancellation rights remain unaffected; simply using a feature does not create a blanket waiver.
UK consumers have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including requirements for applicable digital content to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Remedies may include repair, replacement, price reduction or refund in the circumstances provided by law, and remedies for qualifying damage to a device or other digital content. Service obligations, including reasonable care and skill, also remain protected where applicable. No clause in these Terms excludes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Honey, rewards and your content
Honey, ranks, tiles, streaks and reward jars are progress features, not money, securities or a payment account. Any real-world reward you promise yourself or another person is your arrangement, not an obligation for HoneyBeacon to buy it.
We may change progress calculations prospectively for product balance. Where a change materially affects a locked reward goal, we will provide reasonable migration or reconciliation. We will not use such changes to revoke a paid subscription entitlement.
You retain ownership of names, reward text and photos you provide. You give us permission to host, reproduce and display them only as needed to operate the service you request. Only provide content you have the right and appropriate authority to share. Photo visibility depends on whether private storage has been verified in production, as explained in the Privacy Policy. Prefer illustrations for children until that verification. AI text generation is not enabled in the updated launch app.
Our responsibility and service changes
We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these Terms or failure to use reasonable care and skill, subject to applicable law. We do not limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability or consumer remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. No monetary cap in these Terms limits your statutory digital-content rights; these consumer Terms do not impose a general £50 cap.
We are not responsible for a loss to the extent it is caused by your unlawful misuse or an independent event beyond our reasonable control, but that does not excuse a failure by us to take reasonable steps or remove mandatory consumer remedies. We do not guarantee the performance of Apple or other independent services. If you use the app for business, we do not accept responsibility for business profits or losses that were not reasonably foreseeable.
We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, abuse or legal requirement, giving reasons and a chance to resolve the issue where appropriate. If we discontinue paid services or materially reduce them during a paid period, we will explain the change, cancellation options and any refund or other remedy required by law. We will give reasonable advance notice where practicable. Changes will not retrospectively remove accrued statutory rights.
Leaving, privacy requests and disputes
You can stop using the app at any time. Use Settings → Cloud backup → Delete account to request cloud-account deletion. Local Honey and settings remain until you clear them. Account deletion or uninstalling does not cancel an Apple subscription; cancel renewal separately with Apple. You can also contact hello@honeybeacon.app for help or privacy requests.
English and Welsh law governs these Terms. Consumers retain the mandatory protections and court rights available where they habitually live; this clause does not require a UK consumer to give up their right to use their local courts. Please contact us about a dispute so we can try to resolve it. No compulsory arbitration or class-action waiver is imposed.
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective to the extent permitted by law. We may transfer the business and these arrangements only in a way that respects your rights. The Apple Standard EULA remains applicable to the app licence. We will identify material changes to these Terms and request fresh agreement where required by law.
